  • One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Slight sediment in screen. During decant, the nose was numb. Wine was clear; still opaque garnet with no bricking. After resting, the nose had muscled up: bloody meat, red fruit, smoke and dried flowers. Initially the palate was typical Chianti Classico: bright red fruit with some depth and good balance. During the meal, the wine continued to develop, taking on weight and adding forest floor and black licorice components that had the effect of enhancing the wine's balance. Long finish suggesting the forest floor and licorice. Quite good with lamb chops.

  • Nice but not as good as the 2010 by far. Started strong but tannins didn't settle while the fruit faded in the 3rd hour.

  • Maxflight of Brunellos (Wilmot Wine Emporium): Part of a Brunello tasting. Decanted prior to the tasting (>1hr) and poured back into its bottle. Dark opaque garnet. Rustic funky nose at first but soon evolved to a meaty, dark red fruit, mushroom and liquorice. Savoury fruit on the palate. Medium plus body with medium finish. Went well with seared asian marinated lamb chops.

  • By the glass. Light aroma of truffles, blackberries and sandalwood. Refined yet robust. On the palate a velvety sensation dominates as corresponds to this high status. Balanced acidity, soft tannins and long finish. At this stage, totally recommended. Btw can't be compared fairly with regular brunello from this same producer.

Por copas. Ligero aroma a trufas, moras y sándalo.
