Fortunately, the fruit traits set in after the initial front load of mold and loam on he palate. Red fruit flavors of cranberry, raspberry, pomegranate and red plum, as well as some black berry notes and hints of vanilla. Seemed to improve after a couple of hours breathing, but this “old vine” doesn’t deliver the characteristic old vine essence, lacking the briary, bramble essence characteristic in true old vine Zins. Overall, mediocre wine from a purportedly good Zin maker.
