Sunday, March 31, 2024 - Not sure exactly why, but this wine was a bit of a disappointment, given its high scores. Upon opening two bottles, both of which tasted and smelled exactly the same, the wine was dominated by heavy tannins, so I decanted it in cellar for about 4 hours before serving. By mealtime (prime rib), the tannins had resolved nicely, but the wine felt "heavy", there was no lift to balance the dark fruit flavors of the wine. The wine was good, but there was no excitement in drinking it, and I had hoped for more at this price point. Perhaps it had been open too long?
