Not sure exactly why, but this wine was a bit of a disappointment, given its high scores. Upon opening two bottles, both of which tasted and smelled exactly the same, the wine was dominated by heavy tannins, so I decanted it in cellar for about 4 hours before serving. By mealtime (prime rib), the tannins had resolved nicely, but the wine felt "heavy", there was no lift to balance the dark fruit flavors of the wine. The wine was good, but there was no excitement in drinking it, and I had hoped for more at this price point. Perhaps it had been open too long?

PnP at restaurant from home cellar. For fans of crisp, steely chardonnay, this ain't your bottle. Oily, full-bodied, and complex, this is not a poolside sipper, IMO. Think more slippers, pipe and robe. Notes of caramel and buttered popcorn, with a long finish. We had this with shrimp al ajillo and I don't think it was a great pairing, not enough noticeable acidity, but it would be great with a more traditional "red wine" food, or by itself. Also, it tasted better when most of the chill was gone from some time in the wine glass, rather than straight out of the ice bucket.

1/24/2021 9:38:00 AM - Hey Mark, I accepted the invite, and was happy to do it. Wife and I invited new neighbors over yesterday for outside and socially-distanced wine, cheese and chat. Had a good time over 2012 and 2013 David Arthur Three Acre Cabs. Stay safe, but have fun.
1/23/2021 12:19:00 PM - GJ......much appreciate your kind words. Glad if I can be of any help to anyone! Lol......just sent you a friend invite, but hey, no pressure! Have a great rest of the weekend! Mark

This was really delicious, sweet buy not cloying, with a nice freshness and lift. Beautifully balanced.
