Tuesday, December 21, 2021 - New World Pinot Noir theme lunch at SSG. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of brambly spice, dark red cherries, ripe vibrant raspberry. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.6%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe red cherries, ripe raspberry, sweet red plum, brambly spice, salty saline minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. Red fruited though it has quite ripe feel to it despite the 12.6% alcohol only. Feels like it could develop more and last quite a while. Early days only I think. Alas this was the only bottle I had.
Named after America painter Henry Raschen, who once lived on the property, and come from a ridge that sits between the eastern and western sides of the estate.
