New World Pinot Noir theme lunch at SSG. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of brambly spice, dark red cherries, ripe vibrant raspberry. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.6%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe red cherries, ripe raspberry, sweet red plum, brambly spice, salty saline minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. Red fruited though it has quite ripe feel to it despite the 12.6% alcohol only. Feels like it could develop more and last quite a while. Early days only I think. Alas this was the only bottle I had. Named after America painter Henry Raschen, who once lived on the property, and come from a ridge that sits between the eastern and western sides of the estate.

New-world Pinot lunch: Again much better than my previous experience with the same producer. Nice raspberry fruits without the confectionery note with sufficient acid holding it together. Good depth of flavour with a slight spice note. This has aged gracefully.

12.6% with lovely lifted aromatics and that typically orange peel sonoma coast nose. Has enough lively and light acid to show itself on finish. Interesting.

A bit rough around the edges, despite the time in bottle. A big expression of teh site.

Silky and open knit. Good but not my favorite of the Hirsch wines. With roast chicken tonight

Very slightly corked. One could sense great material but refrain from scoring.
