Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - This wine may be way too young to be consume right now but this bottle pales in comparison to other 2005 Sauterns I recently tasted. It light and citrus not the usual apricot and honey that you expect from a lot of Sauterns. Pineapple and lilac dominate the nose with hints of lemon peel. Light and crisp in the mouth and not at all light Sauterns. More pineapple and some hints of apricot, mango and limestone. Finishes hot and dry with hints of grapefruit.

Not a bad buy at $25 for a full 750ml given so many 2005 Sauternes start at $30 for a 375ml. This wine will probably age well and ultimately prove to be a bargain but there are so many better drinks within a few years reach.
