2016 François Chidaine Clos Baudoin

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Tuesday, September 29, 2020 - Totally intoxicating. Quince, apple, sweet citrus, mushrooms, hazelnut husks, honey, bewildering spicy and floral nuances. This has that beautiful dessicated meadow smell, just lovely. On the palate it is thick and fresh at once. Grippy, full and textured, with electrifying acidity and fine tannic structure. There's probably some rs, but it is very mineral and acidic, and it comes across as a very rich dry style. Long and beguiling finish, this is great dry Chenin. It should develop for another 5 years, at least. I've heard reports of oxidative Chidaine that has not held up well. I don't think this wine will go that direction.
