Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - This is obviously way too young, but I opened the bottle on Friday, and it's now Tuesday when I'm finishing the last glass, so I've had a chance to track its evolution (which has not been very far, admittedly). I bought a case of this based on the promise of a few bottles of the case of the '15 that I bought last year. This is definitely not your father's Pommard, as it is made in a more elegant, restrained style; more approachable in its youth, lacking the rustic, fierce tannins that characterize many wines from this region. Lovely, perfumed floral nose, marked by cherry and crushed gravel notes. Bright bing cherry fruit, crunchy and stony in the midpalate, with a long, tart finish. Did I mention the mineral streak? Drinking well now, but lots of potential too. This is a producer to watch.
