Tuesday, September 21, 2021 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Cloudy, deep garnet. Late harvest fruit, air-dried for 4 months before pressing. Lots of VA, even after decanting for several hours, followed by overripe dried plums, figs, medicinal herbs, sweet baking spices. Surprisingly, it is aged only in SS for 4 yrs and then a yr. in bottle before release. Med sweet, with M+ acidity, M alcohol (12.5%) and M+ tannins. Full-bodied, yet balanced and rich, with pronounced flavor intensity and length. Port-like yet non-fortified. Drinking well now, with many years ahead. Worth seeking out for the hedonistic, primal experience.
