1996 Château Mouton Rothschild

Friday, July 28, 2023 - A good and solid wine - but expected more from one of the big five from Bordeaux - especially during our Blind "Summer of 96 Tasting".
Lenght was average, tannins well integrated and very shy, acidity was close to inexisting, but the fruity notes were active as this wine was only 15 years old. Not sure, if this makes another reviival. Glad to have tasted it, but not one of my "Repeat to Threepeat Bucket Wine List".

Usually, the Bordeaux have a "good" 'n "tasty" three years of life after harvest and then they fall into a Sleeping Beauty Sleep for 10 to 15 years and re-blossom and start to unfold their potential. This Mouton seems like just awaking from their beauty sleep and having a great 30 years life ahead, while being older...
