Saturday, April 17, 2021 - Pronounced nose intensity with notes of oak, toast, strong cedar, black fruits. Medium+ acidity and tannin. Decanted 1 hour.
I most drinking along side 2006, both decanted 1 hour. And to my surprise, the 2006 is drinking better. My group of 8 friends also felt that 2006 is more superior. That surprise me, given that 1996 is a strong vintage. The bottle condition of the 1996 is very good, good ullage and cork condition. Perhaps its just bottle variation. The 2006 was ex chateau.
