90 Points

Monday, February 24, 2020 - While highly overpriced at a restaurant due to the scarcity of Metras’ wines (and the very old vines), this Beaujolais is actually more a Fleurie outside the borders. Very nice with a spicy Asian repast, this deep garnet(not purple) wine held forth strong notes of black pepper, a tart red berry acid, and some nice cabernet franc-type funk. The finish is a bit wanting right now but may expand. There is definite depth to he layers, though not as great as Lapierre Morgon cuvee ML or Foillard Cote de Py.
