Monday, December 6, 2021 - This elegant and spicy wine was delicious tonight - not profound, but tasty. Light red in color; light in body; aromas of pie cherry, dried cranberry, underbrush, and eucalyptus. Flavors of raspberry, mashed strawberry, and dried herbs, with an elegant and somewhat crunchy finish. 12.3% alcohol. Decant two hours if drinking now.
Although I'm not usually a fan of the Home Vineyard, this held its own next to a 2017 Raphet Vougeot. The Rhys was a touch more fruity and less refined than the Raphet, but it was still in the same ballpark, if not near the same base. 93+ for now, with upside in 2023 or later.
