2017 Jean Foillard Morgon

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, November 20, 2020 - 13% alcohol. Short cork with minimal inscription "mis en bouteille dans la région de production", plus the vintage; some tartrate deposits (white, strangely). The colour is medium with no sign of ageing.
The nose has good intensity with red berries and liquorice. The mouth adds strawberry-like flavours (not in an in-your-face way) and excellent acidity, not piercing.
Overpowered by grilled quail, not a pairing to be repeated. Much better on its own afterwards.
A textbook fragrant Beaujolais without any of the flaws often associated with the "nature" fraternity.
Very good but not in a class of its own as some people contend. A repeat purchase depending on price (currently 14€, which is about right).
