Thursday, November 19, 2020 - 2014 Tawse Cabernet Franc Laundry Vineyard was elegant, perfumed and well-balanced. The developing Niagara Cabernet Franc was medium ruby in colour without any sediments. There were aromas of blackberry, redcurrant and violet, followed by pencil shavings, tobacco leaf and a hint of grilled bell pepper.
The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, with medium-high level of focused acidity and medium level of grainy tannin. There were flavours of bramble, graphite, earth and stony minerality in a rather long cedery finish. The alcohol level was at 13.5%. As many as 10,700 bottles were produced.
The single vineyard bottlings of Tawse are among the best expressions of Niagara Cabernet Franc, in a style that resembles Loire Breton, like Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur.
