Thursday, November 5, 2020 - I had this bottle about a year ago and the bottle I opened tonight is better-- but I think that's more bottle variation than the need for time. Very nice color. Wonderful nose of cherries, plum, and cumin. On the palate, the tannins far outweigh the fruit, the wine feels dry, and there are the cigar-box tastes that I associate with many wines that are over the hill. Certainly drinkable, especially with something with a lot of fat, but not great. I was expecting to age better because it is an '05 and largely fruit from Clos des Lambray. But I have to keep reminding myself that this is still classified as a village level wine, regardless of where some/most/all fruit came from. At that level, it's pretty darn good.
