Wednesday, November 21, 2018 - I was a little wary when the cork crumpled on opening (stored properly). Thankfully, it was not flawed. Visually, the wine presents a deep garnet with a brick red rim. It has aromas of stewed prune, earthy tones of forest floor, and cedar. I was surprised with its vibrant acidity and tartness with flavors of dark cherry, prunes, tea leaves, and a touch of licorice on the finish. Medium+ body, medium+ finish, medium+ acidity, medium- alcohol, with gentle tannins. It’s still very drinkable for an old dame, certainly not past its prime. It was the last bottle of this I had in the cellar, so I won’t have anything to compare later. I’d recommend drinking now or within the next 3 years.
