Saturday, October 21, 2023 - Ganevat Mon Pere Vertical (Chambers): Leaner, saltier, and edgier than the 2008 tasted ahead of it. No oxidative notes on this one compared to 2008. Finger limes, green apple, crushed pumice stone. I quite liked this at first, it was complex, focused, and the nerviness of it was quite appealing. As time went this became a touch disjointed and developed this acetone laden note on mid-palate that overpowered the rest of the wine and I struggled to see past.

ABV: 12%
Closure: natural cork
Stem: Korin white stem
Decant: N/A; poped and poured and tasted over the course of ~5h
Extra info: from vines of Savagnin Vert planted in 1930, on the blue marl of the Chalasses site. Aged for 130 months a la ouille in old demi-muid and barrels after a press à l'ancienne and no racking of the must. A small amount of sulphur is added only at bottling.
Vintage info from JF Ganevat: Also complicated and quite lean. There was some botrytis but this time with more grey rot than noble, so intense sorting was required. The delicacy and patina came once again from long ageing.
