Sunday, March 13, 2022 - Though probably past its prime, this was a really enjoyable bottle of wine. The fruit had faded but I could immediately sense the Dry Creek briariness, which is the thumbprint of the region. I literally cut my Zin teeth on the abundant, well made offerings from the area; dating back to the early-mid 80’s. In fact, that is precisely why I nabbed this bottle off of the Library rack on this visit to the Amador tasting room last month.
The color was a slightly cloudy purple, not unlike the appearance of the barrel samples that we’d overindulge in, during our regular attendance at the annual Barrel Tasting weekends in the valley. As you can tell, I’m getting nostalgic. This wine did that to me…
Like I said, muted but still present fruit. Low to mid level acidity that added lift, and, no perceptible tannin; making this drink like a low alcohol food wine.
YUM!
