2018 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé

Community Tasting Note

Friday, March 19, 2021 - Rose dinner at Chaoshan: 55% Mourvèdre, 25% Grenache, 20% Cinsault. First time trying the benchmark rose, surprisingly most didn't care for this at the start. Strong scent of onion peel and raspberries, lots of tropical fruits on the palate. To me it lacked character and didn't have anything to distinguish it from a 4 euro supermarket rose. It improved with air though to put on more weight and complexity towards the end of dinner, so maybe it just needs more time.

I have only been on the Tempier Bandol Rose bandwagon for 4 years, and can say that these bottles age very well and are much more distinguishable after a couple of years. Looking forward to having my last 2016 and starting on my 2017s this summer. 2018s will not be touched until next year at earliest at our place.
