Tuesday, December 21, 2021 - Terrific Rosso. The first thing you notice is the color - brilliant ruby that sparkles in the light. The nose is focused, bright cherry fruit, citrus peel, and a touch of anise. Bright and punchy on the attack, with tangy acid that starts off borderline tart but integrates better with a couple hours of air. Very pure and crystalline red fruit with tangerine undertones, with orange peel and more anise aromatics on the back palate. Classical Sangiovese in flavors, but more elegant than a CCR and more lithe than Brunello. Lightly tannic, and a bit tight on the finish. Needs a couple more years to show its full potential I think.

Day 2: a bit tighter and more obvious rusticity on the tannins. Drinks a bit more like a young CCR.
