Explosive dry herbal nose and dried red fruit. Silky body, punctuated with mouth watering acid and red fruit that’s fighting it’s way to be seen. Tannic, light leather finish.
I have to think this is some brunello that didn’t make the cut.

Terrific Rosso. The first thing you notice is the color - brilliant ruby that sparkles in the light. The nose is focused, bright cherry fruit, citrus peel, and a touch of anise. Bright and punchy on the attack, with tangy acid that starts off borderline tart but integrates better with a couple hours of air. Very pure and crystalline red fruit with tangerine undertones, with orange peel and more anise aromatics on the back palate. Classical Sangiovese in flavors, but more elegant than a CCR and more lithe than Brunello. Lightly tannic, and a bit tight on the finish. Needs a couple more years to show its full potential I think.
Day 2: a bit tighter and more obvious rusticity on the tannins. Drinks a bit more like a young CCR.

Tried this wine as an experiment whether drinking young rosso might compare favorably to brunello. Pnp - wine was very restrained and almost too acidic, even after trying to aerate a few times in desperation. I was very disappointed. Left half the bottle for 24 hours, and what a difference that made. This wine was lovely, lightweight but had delicious medium red fruits showing. Very much improved. Lesson learned. Rosso can be quite good - but this young, need to wait a bit after opening.

Starting to dry out a little, but tannins now sfoftened. Nice dark fruit, a little cherry, strawberry, some oak noticeable now
