Wednesday, May 16, 2007 - I'm of two minds about this one. The nose is so hot initially that it's reminiscent of nail polish. The funny thing is that KB's '04 RRV has more alcohol yet seems (at least to me) less overt about it. With some air time, though, this integrates a little bit, bringing to the fore all manner of fruit. Jolly-Rancher-style cherry, tangy raspberry, cola, brown sugar, and vanilla really burst forth. It's not particularly subtle stuff, and it lacks that elusive, feminine, spicy violet note that I really like in a Pinot. And I'm not even certain that a few years of cellar time will cure the balance issue altogether. With all of that said, though, I still very much enjoyed this (though not as much as the '04 RRV or '05 SC).
