90 Points

Friday, May 14, 2021 - Maybe some bottle variation but this was a bit of a puzzler after a 2 hr decant. Initial smell was a head rush of cherry. When settled in the glass there was a robust if rustic combination of cherry and strawberry, barnyard funk, light spice. The palate was a lot clunkier than the bouquet, with still fairly coarse tannins and sharp acidity. I don’t think this is a matter of “too young” - it wasn’t bad, but it was far from sublime.
Score: 90. Relative to expectations: -
