Tuesday, December 14, 2021 - An impressive wine. Its youth is not particularly on display but the future holds promise for even better. When first opened, the wine was youthfully exuberant but three hours in the decanter brought it to a different place. On the nose, earthy, with a bit of a root cellar mustiness and, oddly, a hint of reduction and a feral smell (and taste) to it. In the mouth wild, dark, black currant. A rustic wine that is earthy and entirely unpolished - unabashed flavor. My tasting partner suggested, and I agree, that this would be a superb wine with a steak charred and rare. Can’t wait to try that!
