Wednesday, May 6, 2020 - We've been aiming to keep our drinking in a fairly reasonable window which has tended to mean we've mostly been sticking to daily drinkers since we haven't had the opportunity to share wines. This night though we made an exception. On an evening session with Alessandro Lunardi. The official wines for the online tasting were the new releases, but I was thinking quality over quantity so opted for the single bottled of aged Ornellaia. And it was just perfect. A good reminder that there is a big difference between the great wines and the daily ones. Decent power and still some finesse. Lots of black cherry and soil and just a touch of spice notes. It was really lovely. Small pleasures in life and great wine is one of those.
