Saturday, December 14, 2019 - This one has a sexy nose, giving off aromas of buttered toast, very ripe pineapple, and mushed banana by the handful. Underneath this hedonistic nose - not something said about many white wines - lies Meyer lemon, kiwi, and star fruit. The vivacious body is medium plus in weight with kicking and seamless acid and a line of tannin made of equal parts oak and acid. The structure is seriously statured but far from heavy. The flavors include slate minerality, Key lime pie, gram cracker crust, quince, honey dew, pineapple, blood orange, sea mist, and sea shells. Among the best white wines I’ve had, and the most impressive of the ten vintages of this wine that I’ve experienced because of how elegant and light-touch the oak is and how integrated this early into its life.
