Saturday, December 14, 2019 - This is my second bottle of this magnificent wine, the first being only four months ago. In the end my appreciation of the wine and my vote is the same, but there was one big difference. Whereas the first took significant time to open up, this one had a huge, penetrating aromatic profile immediately upon opening and decanting. Reason? The only clue is that the two bottles have different provenance, but I did not record the number of either bottle – shame on me.

Anyway, this is a breathtaking, dazzling, near-perfect and very big wine. On the white Burgundy spectrum this is clearly on the restrained, mineral, transparent, silky and balanced side. Intense floral aromas carry hints of citrus and vanilla, with sappy, savory, spicy flavors, all supported by a body of structure and precision and in silky harmony. There are hints of sweet opulence, but only hints, as this wine’s greatness is based on structure, complexity and silkiness. Fabulous with pesce crudo, but able to accompany an endless variety of dishes.
