Saturday, January 23, 2016 - Opened about 90 minutes before tasting. As expected, this wine seems to be hitting its stride. Shy nose - smells like a barrel room, with a little charcoal. Mouthwatering black and blue fruits, but not much in the way of secondary flavors. Although it looks viscous in the glass, it's medium bodied at best, but the BIG fruit carries over to a very good finish. Perfectly balanced right now, so I'm tempted to say "drink up". However, this wine has a good ageability track record, and additional time might open up the nose and produce more complexity.
