Attractive orange peach color. Melon, cured meats, and orange marmalade on the nose--tons of brine and some hay as well.
Bright acidic punch, but well balanced with tart berries and good body. Some tannins, especially on the aftertaste. Almost woodsy, like a leftover stem stuck in a berry. Medium dry with a good leathery aftertaste that is quintessential of this producer--every wine I've had of theirs, be it white, red, or rose, have all had that same meaty, mushroomy, leathery note mid-way through the finish.
This wine is not your ordinary rose. It is complex, well-aged, and has plenty more time to go. I've had some of this producer's white wines from the mid 80s that were just hitting their peak. If you're looking for something a little different and surprising, this is a winner. Certainly more for the predominantly red drinker than the white drinker, but worth the buy if you're looking for something unique.
93/100
