Friday, January 19, 2024 - Gifted this one by the DQ 2.5 years ago......pnp, then enjoyed over 4 hours during and after dinner with the kids. Doesn't really need any decant time but does improve a point or two over a few hours. Savory is the word here.....dark fruited, and very savory without the obtrusiveness of the Wash St Syrahs. No barnyard here, just a smooth fruited, spicy, meaty wine that probably gets 1-2 pts better over the next few years. Very well balanced. Thanks, DQ!

He sold it probably about 5 years ago, not sure if this was his or the new ownership. I’m not sure I’ve had anything of theirs since the ‘16s, but glad to see the quality is holding up. Fun fact: halcon is Spanish for falcon, but it’s Mexican slang for a lookout for drug dealers.

Very interesting that the owner was a CT friend, but I think there are quite a few makers on here, that we just don't know about? I'm not the biggest Rhone guy but do like one every now and then. This one was very well made and very interesting.
