Thursday, December 27, 2018 - I've always thought this was a very reliable producer and this bottle did not disappoint. Displays a surprisingly dark color for only a 12 year old sauternes, but that didn't bother me at all. On the nose, you get the very classic toffee, burnt embers, and roasted almond notes that come very well together when framed with a zesty acidity. Decent finish plays on the strength of the fruit, right about where a dessert wine should be. Stood up to some nice cheese and nuts. For the money, it's a very good bottle, it just lacks a touch of complexity of some of the more elite sauternes that would merit a higher score.
