Sunday, February 19, 2023 - Unmistakably Oregon PN: the lightness, strawberry and weird combo of fruit forward taste and stalkiness show through. What really sets this apart though is how gorgeous the burnt stalk smell and taste was in this, adding extra contours where in other cases it would just get in the way. Having had Walter Scott Chards as well as a Pinot now I would venture that this treatment of whole clusters (I think they say 30% but it tastes like more) and the unique toasted edge it gives to their wines are what makes their wines distinctive as well as delicious. I think I like their chards a little bit more.
Score: 92-93. Relative to expectations: ++
