Thursday, August 18, 2022 - Definitely recommend with the caveat that this is still quite young. A very pleasant reasonably well made and somewhat stereotypical entry level CA merlot from a good winemaking team - right now very fruitforward and a crowd pleaser but also priced to be a crowd pleaser. Quite a good QPR wine. Drink or hold - drinking well right now just popped & poured but with proper cellaring will hold for a few years with expected softening and possibly a 1-2 point improvement. No real need to decant. Very dark, a bit disjointed at this point, fruit forward and somewhat monolithic with a longish intense aftertaste. Nose dark and aromatic with plum, dark cherry and a whiff of tobacco on the end. Flavor profile of dark fruit, molasses, leather and a hint of tobacco on the end here as well.
