90 Points

Friday, July 21, 2023 - Open and fragrant nose of primarily fresh cherries and violets, with the bouquet supported by overripe cherries as well as herbs - perhaps mild oregano, as well as sweeter florals. Palate reflects the nose and is still very fruit-forward. Mouthfeel is smooth and refined; some fine-grained tannins remain. Medium powered finish that extends for miles with fresh and dark cherries. 90 now; QPR hunters rejoice because this is a phenomenal value; my rating would be several points higher if I scored with price into account!! *Lapostolle was founded in 1994 by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet. The winery is currently run by their son, Charles de Bournet - the 7th generation of a French winemaking family. *This 2019 vintage: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Carmenere, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot - all from estate-owned vineyards.
