Friday, December 15, 2023 - The '18 Montevertine is one of the prettiest wines made from Sangiovese I've tasted. On the nose and palate, I found a rather simple, at least for now, but very beautiful expression of red berry fruit and red floral tones. The fruit here is super sweet, while the texture of the wine is pure silk, medium to light in body with almost no perception of tannin. This was very easy to drink now given the beauty of the fruit and the textural finesse, immediately after popping the bottle without a decant, but if you enjoy a bit of tertiary complexity in the wine I could see this being best in 5-10 years.
