93 Points

Monday, January 16, 2023 - Trying to be patient with this wine in light of the vintage, source, and producer; however, I’m thinking about buying more to lay down in consideration of the 95 rating from Dunnuck and Galloni but wanted to get an idea where it’s at first. Decanted during the day for around ten hours. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice vibrant flavors of cassis, some spice/licorice, cocoa, and a little mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep and just a touch of tartness - some bing cherry. A nice vintage of this wine - no surprise of the 95 rating from Dunnuck and Galloni. According to Galloni, drinking window 2025 to 2038 which makes sense (give a couple more years to open-up and develop further) but I did enjoy this bottle after a nice decant - 93 at this youthful stage. 90% cab sauvignon and 10% cab franc.
