  • Big, dry. Loads of structure. Blackberry, currant, coffee bean, rich earth, woodsy elements. Definitely one to serve appropriately cool to appreciate the full range of expression.

  • Trying to be patient with this wine in light of the vintage, source, and producer; however, I’m thinking about buying more to lay down in consideration of the 95 rating from Dunnuck and Galloni but wanted to get an idea where it’s at first. Decanted during the day for around ten hours. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice vibrant flavors of cassis, some spice/licorice, cocoa, and a little mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep and just a touch of tartness - some bing cherry. A nice vintage of this wine - no surprise of the 95 rating from Dunnuck and Galloni. According to Galloni, drinking window 2025 to 2038 which makes sense (give a couple more years to open-up and develop further) but I did enjoy this bottle after a nice decant - 93 at this youthful stage. 90% cab sauvignon and 10% cab franc.

  • Talk about a powerhouse! Needed 2 hours to decant to approachable levels.

Dark in the glass, opaque purple.

Big dark fruit, tobacco and bitter chocolate on the nose.

Blueberry and blackberry/cassis on the palate with the same tobacco and bitter chocolate from the nose, with a leathery finish.

It’s still a bit young, and one might say it’s in the “whip & chair” phase of it’s life (thanks, Elton! Haha). But with another sitting a few years down the road, this wine is a stellar bold Mt veeder cab with nowhere to go but up!

  • Does have a bit of a hard green note to it. Rounded out on the palate.

  • A little bit green, and a little bit more powerful. And even more tannins. And extracted. And, its interesting, given time I kinda bet this woudl really show its stuff.

  • Fourth red wine is the 2018 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon from the Amentet Vineyard up on Mt. Veeder. Dark and inky purple core. Nose is coated in black cherries, purple flowers and bitter cocoa. Well rounded even with the heavy tannins (8/10) and full body. Dark and rich palate covered in blackberries, boysenberries and cherries with a mineral and vanilla undertone. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2044.
