Thursday, January 28, 2010 - 11-14% alc (as stated on bottle)...plain and simple, the wine needs some decanting...on the nose, after approx. an hour the wine explodes on the nose, loads of leather, earth, spice, garrigue, tar - reminds me of complex Rhone wines where the fruit isn't first, second or third expression, the fruit appears at the last bit of the nose...on the palate this wine is singing and in perfect balance, fine structure - for drinking now, not necessarily long aging - great fine tannins, great acidity, long, long, long finish of dried red fruits, leather, herbs, dried cherry. A fine, pleasing wine. Complex, yes. The only issue with aging longer for me is how much further will the fruit continue to dry out? Ready to go and frankly, I'll drink mine with barbecue this summer.
