Saturday, December 10, 2011 - I have been looking forward to trying the first of my 2005 Tempier Bandol for some time and tonight was the night. Bandol is not a wine that I have found generally available from my regular wine sources so it is a wine I tend to pick from local bistro's wine lists and always enjoy. This bottle lived up to my pleasant recollection of past bistro meals. It is still young, but mature enough to enjoy. It had strong tannins that were modestly rough but still reasonably integrated and not unpleasant. Leather, smoke, earth, cherry fruit. Wonderful bouquet. Whenever I get the chance, I will add Bandol to my cellar.
