Thursday, August 18, 2022 - Uncorked, poured and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, this young Pinot has the deep-to-opaque ruby color of a juvenile Cabernet. Loaded with black fruit, it adds notes of fig, pickling spice, savory herbs, white pepper and ginger. Considering the varietal, it is full-bodied and ripe, but has an impressive acidic backbone. The alcohol (listed as 14%) lurks quietly and the tannins, albeit plentiful, are quite fine-grained. Dense on the mid-palate and medium-to-long on the finish, this is a New World-styled red Burgundy that, despite its currant seductive nature, will benefit from short-term cellaring. If you choose to pop the cork at this early stage, give it at least an hour of aeration. Drink 2024-2030.
