Sunday, September 3, 2023 - This wine has a deep, bright violet color. The nose is not very expressive. The flavor is mostly blackberry with some cinnamon and molasses undertones. The body is full with a silky mouthfeel and a fresh, generous finish. The tannins are silky with no bitterness. This wine is pretty young for a heavy red, but it's totally approachable now. It has 15.3% EtOH which is higher than I like, but very typical for a zinfindel. There is some ripeness resulting in some jam, but there's enough acidity to make it acceptable. This is one of my top three vineyards out of the Carlisle portfolio.
This went exceptionally well with our pizza dinner.
