Thursday, March 28, 2024 - at t=0 with opening, an aroma of dark fruit, cigar box, and with a mid-palate that was an acidic mess; at t=2 hours, aroma of more fruit, less cigar box, and more subdued notes, with a palate of austerity, acidity, astringency, but hopeful notes of balance with an appearance of more black fruit; at t=6 hours the aroma was even less fruit and cigar box, with a much more balanced palate of dark fruit and gripping tannins. Overall, this is an highly extracted Cab that benefits from tons of air and time post-opening; bottle aging will slowly address this, yes, but for the next few years I will open others 4-6 hours before drinking. Future score ~95, now ~90.
