at t=0 with opening, an aroma of dark fruit, cigar box, and with a mid-palate that was an acidic mess; at t=2 hours, aroma of more fruit, less cigar box, and more subdued notes, with a palate of austerity, acidity, astringency, but hopeful notes of balance with an appearance of more black fruit; at t=6 hours the aroma was even less fruit and cigar box, with a much more balanced palate of dark fruit and gripping tannins. Overall, this is an highly extracted Cab that benefits from tons of air and time post-opening; bottle aging will slowly address this, yes, but for the next few years I will open others 4-6 hours before drinking. Future score ~95, now ~90.

Double decanted the night before then put it back under cork. Was ripe and dark the next evening - still some oak discernable, but a good mountain cab if not truly exceptional (yet?).

Matter of Taste Zurich, Grand Walkaround Tour. Extracted and ripe fruit, pretty much like the Signature, but on top this adds earth, whiffs of spice. The fruit profile was darker, showing black currant and cassis. Softly textured palate. Compared to more recent vintages, a step-up from the 2018 I found, but not quite at the level of 2016 or 2015.

Rich black fruit aromas with cherry, plum, raspberry .tense quite structured wine, meant for the long haul. Wild red fruit flavors throughout. This one is serious brooding & needs time, but great potential. Don’t touch for at least 5 years. Serious upside potential.
