Wednesday, January 17, 2024 - The Eponyme has a sad story but I suppose that adds to the poignancy of the wine. The first one I’ve actually opened and therefore my first time tasting Gringet. Verbena and elderflower. Slight effervescence and a light touch of VA, perhaps unsurprising since the wine was made by Ganevat after the original proprietor’s (the eponymous Belluard) untimely passing. Interestingly felt quite ferric (as opposed to the salty/chalky feeling from limestone), unsure if that’s anything to do with the terroir. Excellent balance of concentration with tension and persistent without losing energy. A great wine in its own right.
