Monday, October 9, 2023 - Needs a bit of air to wake up right now but when it did, a great value for money Viognier or Condrieu. Highly enjoyable and a great way to learn about this wonderful but often misunderstood varietal.
A bit oxidised upon opening, it takes a bit of time for this to blow off. Once it did, the bouquet is full of apricot, buttery lees and a hint floral notes. The body has a fluency that is not often associated with entry level Condrieu. Quite plush and juicy with good depth, the body is a good example how good Condrieu could be. It hints to better things. Lovely apricot and savoury finish, delightful. Not complete top drawer but excellent all the same.
Drink now to 3+ years.
