Wednesday, May 31, 2023 - 48% Negramoll, 50% Listan Negro, 2% Listan Blanco. 100-year-old vines. Sandy clay soils over basalt (volcanic) rock. Partial carbonic maceration (20%), which is traditional in the region, and whole cluster (roughly 2/3) in plastic and concrete. Aged in neutral French oak around 8 months. This is the first vintage of this cuvee.

Unfiltered but transparent purple color. You have to like volcanic wines to enjoy this one. It’s all about smoky, volcanic rocky notes on the nose and palate with some iodine and mild herbal notes. It’s light-bodied but there’s a lot of intensity and tension from the acidity. Sour raspberries and blackberries. Easy to drink texturely, but some may want to wait for the acidity to soften up. You might say it’s a volcanic, tart Beaujolais given the carbonic maceration and light-bodied, fruity nature. 92+
