2014 Tablas Creek Panoplie

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Monday, March 18, 2024 - I’ve been trying to reduce some older wines from my cellar and this stood out as a candidate for liquidation. The CT community seems to be split on where this wine is in its development so I was torn on what to do. Since this is Mouvedre dominate which I consider to have midterm age ability then followed by Grenache on the short to midterm side with a dollop of Syrah I decided it was good to go. For me this was in the right place. Sleek red berry fruits with some hints of funk and herbs. Lighter than I anticipated. Consumed over 2 days. Of course I’m curious where this would be in 5 more years but sometimes you just gotta pull the trigger.

3/20/2024 6:49:00 AM - I share your concerns regarding Tablas wines cellaring potential and find your note on this wine very helpful. I have Tablas wines mostly dating from 2011 forward but with a few bottles of 2007, 2009, and 2010. I drank the 2008s prematurely. Looks like the 2012s are ready already to drink up or soon. Mixed verdict on 2013. The 2010s seem the least outstanding. The 2011 reds are terrific. O well, live and learn.
