Wednesday, June 3, 2009 - Another good value wine for stacking for daily drinking since it can be very versatile with different types of meals. Has a deep black purple color, even the borders have a dark concentrated colour . The nose is very aromatic but somewhat alcoholic at first, but let it breathe a while and it'll show a very fruity nose with cranberries, black cherry and black currant notes, the interesting part is it continues evolving as it gets air, it shows hints of pepper and I even get some slight bacon and red hot pepper. The palate has good body, with robust tannins but well integrated, not as alcoholic as on nose, jammy fruit and a touch of oak. On day two the wine has still much the same character but has evolved into something more delicate, the colour has lighten up a notch, the nose is not as alcoholic and it still has very nice fruit, even though it doesn't show the back spiciness it had before. On palate is smoother and the fruit is not as jammy as before. This is a good QPR, versatile, enjoyable and I think it can hold up well for another 4 years, I even think it can evolve gracefully. Highly recommended for the price.
